Controller’s Nightmare/VATSIM Pilot’s Dream
October 3rd, 2009 – 1900Z for 3 hours

Cairo (HECA/CAI) will introduce a 3rd main runway in early 2010 to handle the A380, so the current 05R/23L (to-be 05C/23C) will have to be closed for the current construction of new taxiways extending to the new to-be 05R/23L. NOTAM A0073/09: “RWY 05R/23L CLSD DUE TO WIP” and that’s active starting on the 1st of October to early 2010.

So Cairo’s heavy traffic which made full use of the 2 runways will have to cope with only 1 runway (05L/23R). What’s the catch? Well, long line-ups with immediate departures and a nice row of flying heavy-metal approaching the same runway.

To celebrate this moment (and to prove the controllers’ scope-worthiness), VATEG invites you to fly in or/and out of Cairo on Saturday the 3rd of October 2009, this unique and special event will span 3 hours, starting 1900Z (9 PM local); Cairo to be fully staffed along with Cairo Control (which covers the whole of Egypt’s FIR).

Find your calendar, take a note, and bring all your fellow aviators with you; a true test will certainly take place on the 3rd of October.

A0323/09 - RWY 05L/23R CLSD DUE TO WIP. 12 SEP 10:00 2009 UNTIL 30 SEP 23:59 2009. CREATED:
12 SEP 08:18 2009

A0319/09 - RWY 05R/23L CLSD DUE TO WIP. 01 OCT 00:01 2009 UNTIL 08 JAN 15:00 2010 ESTIMATED.
CREATED: 05 SEP 12:11 2009

05L/23R is closed from 12th of Sep until 30th Sep ,then at 1rst of October 05R/23L will be closed for 3 month to extend the taxiways of the new runway 05R to join the current taxiways (the old 05R will be 05C)

Also 05L/23R is being fully repaired not parts of it, i hope thats make things clear

اليوم شوفت ايش نتائج رصف المدرج 05L/23R
تم رصف المدرج في الجزء الاوسط بالكامل
يتبقى الجزء الايمن والايسر
والسيارات الى الان شغاله عليه
وبعد كده سوف يفتح يوم 1 اكتوبر

this is not a test for atcs ,but just another a heavy day ,and they are awesomely qualified for worst than that ,they are the best men in the wright place .take care of words pilot. we should all respect each other we are not in a war .
we all must cooperate to do our best serve and secure and to help each passenger to reach his destination safely ((( we all ...... pilot ..atcs .. engineers and any one work for aviation))) at the end god help us all in our work and life. we see miracles every day in the sky ,we should consider ourselves lucky , to work in such a very good field ,we all should thank god for what we are,
